Primary Purpose:
The maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systems
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
- Must pass drug test and be part of a random drug-testing program
- Must pass criminal history check
- Must be willing to progress in skill level and obtain plumbing apprentice license
Experience:
- None required, Prefer one year experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
- Willing to assist in general plumbing repair
- Complete work orders as requested
- Hand and mechanical excavation of plumbing and HVAC lines
- Measure, cut, thread, and glue pipe together with supervision
- Assist other technicians in department as needed
- Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, work order and time entry systems
- Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
- Assist other crafts as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Pipe vises and portable stands
- Pipe threaders and cutters
- burring reamers, pipe wrenches
- flaring tools
- various sealing compounds, pipe dies and taps
- tube benders, impact tools
- electrical power and hand tools associated with the trade
- Sewer cleaning machines pro press tools
- soldering torch
- trash pumps
Working Conditions
Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress;
interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district functions
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all
faculties. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to
dust, toxic chemicals, and materials. May work on slippery and uneven
surfaces
