Primary Purpose:

 

The maintenance, repair and installation of air conditioning, heating and building automation systems

 

 

Qualifications:

      Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
  • Must pass drug test and physical and be part of a random drug testing program
  • Must pass criminal history check

 

      Experience:

  • One year experience preferred
  • Willing to progress in skill level

 

     Special Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate general knowledge of operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of work related systems of designated craft
  • Demonstrates the ability to work unsupervised
  • Hold EPA Certification in refrigerant recovery (universal) or be able to obtain one within one year of taking the position
  • General knowledge of tools in designated craft
  • Demonstrate ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  

  MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  1. Assist with installation, maintenance and repair on commercial HVAC equipment and BAS systems
  2. Completes work orders as requested
  3. Assist with the repairs of major HVAC equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, and other related equipment under supervision of licensed HVAC technician
  4. Completes preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned
  5. Must have a working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, work order, and time entry systems
  6. Assist other crafts as needed
  7. Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
  8. Perform other duties as assigned

  • Electrical Test Equipment
  • Vacuum pumps,
  • Computer
  • Refrigerant recovery machine
  • Hand tools and power tools of the trade
  • Personnel and material lifting equipment
  • Pipe threading
  • Cutting equipment

  

WORKING CONDITIONS:

     

      Mental Demands:

 

      Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under

      stress; interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district functions

 

      Physical Demand / Environmental Factors:

 

      Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all

      faculties,must be able to work from adders and elevated platforms, work outside

      exposure to hot cold temperatures, exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials,

      may work on slippery and uneven surfaces
