Primary Purpose:

 

      The maintenance, repair and installation of air conditioning, heating and building

      automation systems

 

Qualifications:

     Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's license and meet/maintain insurance requirements of PISD
  • Must pass drug test and be part of a random drug testing program
  • Must pass criminal history check
  • Minimum of 2 years job related experience or 1 year experience with 15 hours of technical courses relative to designated craft
  • Hold an EPA Certification in refrigerant recovery (universal)

      Special Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must have basic understanding of basic mechanical and HVAC principals
  • Ability to learn maintenance and repair techniques for antiquated and new HVAC systems
  • Ability to work well with peers and supervisor
  • Capable of making independent, on the spot, "safe to operate" decisions regarding safety of students, staff and the general public
  • Follow established safety procedures, and techniques to perform job duties
  • Capable of providing maintenance, diagnosis and repair of commercial HVAC stems

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Installation, maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC equipment and BAS systems
  2. Makes routine adjustments to start or stop seasonal equipment
  3. Adjust air flow, safety devices, and thermostats
  4. Assist with the repairs of major HVAC equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, and other related equipment under supervision of licensed HVAC technician
  5. Completes preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned
  6. Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, and meters
  7. Knowledge of and experience with compliance of the Uniform Mechanical Code, related laws and regulations
  8. Demonstrate firm grasp of diagnosis and troubleshooting techniques of commercial HVAC systems 25 tons and under
  9. Demonstrate mastery in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC systems 25 ton and under
  10. Experience in the troubleshooting, calibration and repair of pneumatic and DDC control systems
  11. Experienced in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration systems of any size or capacity
  12. Experienced in the direction and training of personnel to install, maintain and repair of all commercial HVAC systems
  13. Demonstrate mastery in the diagnosis and repair of HVAC systems of any size and capacity
  14. Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, time entry and work orders
  15. Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies
  16. Perform other duties as assigned

      stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions

 

      Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

      Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all

      faculties; must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms; work outside;

      exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and

      materials; may work on slippery and uneven surfaces
