Primary Purpose:

 

 The person in this position assists the schools in the development of appropriate

 educational programs for students by conducting full individual evaluations, providing

 direct counseling, consultative psychological services, and participating in ARD

 meetings for students.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification: 

  • Certification by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Psychologists as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
  • At least one year experience or internship in a school setting, preferred

Experience:

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

     1. Conduct Full Individual Evaluations as part of the multi-disciplinary evaluation team

         to identify students who may be eligible for special education services

     2. Provide consultations regarding results of evaluation or other questions of a

         psychological nature to school personnel and parents

     3. Provide counseling to students as recommended by an ARD

     4. Conduct and/or participate in ARD meetings, in order to provide psychological   

         or psycho-educational information

     5. Assist in the intervention process for students

     6. Link parents with services within the community, such as parenting classes and long-interm psychological

         services

     7. Provide short-term services for students such as crisis counseling, suicide         

         prevention, and behavior consultation

     8. Conduct training and staff development for school personnel, psychology and   

         counseling interns, and volunteers

     9. Participate in staff, professional and interagency meetings, as required

   10. Consult with district personnel on problem issues and crisis management as they 

         relate to students

   11. Other duties as assigned
