JOB TITLE: Desktop Technician

DUTY DAYS: 240

Primary Purpose:

 

Provide Tier 1 technical and administrative support for site (campus) based Voice, Video and Data Systems. 

 

Qualifications:

      Education

  • High school diploma required, college preferred
  • A+ certification preferred
  • Must pass drug and alcohol abuse standards
  • Must pass criminal history and MVR driving record checks

      Special Knowledge Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand operation of equipment
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret software and hardware manuals
  • Ability to type on computer keyboard and read monitor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc

      Experience:

  • 2 years of experience providing customer and tecnology service and support / or education 
  • Basic knowledge of/ or experience in network wiring configuration and installation
  • Basic knowledge of ' or experience in installation and problem resolution of IP phones
  • Knowledge of / or experience in setup and troubleshooting of Microsoft and Apple operating system
  • Knowledge of ' or experience in installation of software packages (e.g. MS Office, MS Windows)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage procurement, deployment, and inventory of technical equipment
  • Install, maintain, repair, update and upgrade new and existing technology equipment and peripherals as required
  • Manage setup, installation, configuration, updates and upgrades of campus labs and wireless carts
  • Assist with installation and provide problem resolution of wired and wireless network infrastructure which supports voice, video and data operations
  • Install, configure, update and upgrade software and test operations in campus enviroment
  • Manage desktop security applications and maintain security software on student desktop machines
  • Instructi/train district personnel on proper procedures of operation of district network software and equipment
  • Complete written record of every service call or repair
  • Stay-up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth
  • Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics
  • Provide monthly updates an status reports to campus and technology department
  • Utilize time wisely for effecitve management of job responsibilities
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings
  • maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers
  • Must be available to work during periodic over-time, as required
