Job Title:   School Behavioral Health Specialist for Menninger Grant

Duty Days: 205

Primary Purpose: 

 

     To oversee successful completion of all Bridgeup at Menninger grant activities in two

     secondary schools which includes providing professional development, coaching staff,   

     providing direct services to students in small groups and offering parent training.

 

Qualifications:

     Education/Certification:

  • Masters Degree in Adminstration/Counseling/Behavioral  or Mental Health Field

     Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred - not required

      Experience

  • Minimum three years clinical/behavior intervention experience in school setting preferred-not required
  • Knowledge of and experience with implementing PBIS schoolwide

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Conduct observations or collect data to identify students who are in need of behavioral interventions
  2. Facilitate and conduct district and/or campus meetings and trainings on a regular basis
  3. Utilize software programs to keep accurate behavioral information on all students served
  4. Provide counseling and/or small group intervention to students
  5. Work collaboratively with campus administration and school teams to ensure grant requirements are fulfilled and information is available for appropriate personnel
  6. Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop capacity that supports school behavioral health
  7. Monitor implementation of all grant activities
  8. Collaborate, assist, and coordinate use of learning strategies, materials, and equipment related to grant activities
  9. Consult district and outside resource people regarding education, psychological, social, medical, and personal needs of students
  10. Provide short-term services for students such as crisis counseling, suicide prevention, trauma intervention, social emotional learning skills training, etc
  11. Consult with district personnel on problem issues and crisis management as they relate to students
  12. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers
  13. Provide ongoing information to parents regarding services
  14. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
  15. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
  16. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
  17. Participation in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
  18. Maintain understanding of and comply with federal, state, district, and school procedures, regulations, and policies for the special programs process
  19. Attend and participate in meetings and serve on staff committee as required
  20. Perform other duties as assigned

      Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

   

      Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours
