Primary Purpose:
To evaluate student(s) referred for occupational therapy evaluations which will assist the ARD committee in determining possible eligibility for services. To provide occupational therapy as a related service for students with disabilities as identified in the student's individual educational program.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Degree(s), certification, and/or licensure by the association and/or board as designated by law
- Prefer successful experience in Texas public schools or equivalent

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides consultation to the school district for planning and implementation of occupational therapy services
- Conducts Full Individual Evaluations as part of the multi-disciplinary evaluation team for determining special needs of individual students and appropriate placement
- Makes a written report of evaluation to the Admissions, Review, and Dismissal Committee
- Assists the ARD committee in the development of the individual educational program (IEP's) in terms of eligible students and/or recommended educational alternatives
- Provide services to students with disabilities as specified in the individual education program (IEP)
- Provide consultation to teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents concerning IEP implementation, maintenance, and evaluation
- Provides workshops and staff development sessions as requested by the educational staff
- Offers guidance and assistance to classroom teachers and suggestions for adapting materials and equipment for individual or class use
- Provide consultation to parents and families through evaluation summaries, home programs, referrals to other agencies, suggestions for home management and adaptive equipment and organization of parent groups
- Acts as a liaison between the school and the community health agencies
- Makes an assessment of potential architectural barriers which may hinder a handicapped child and makes suggestions for the elimination of such barriers
- Assist in the conversion of OT recommendations into educational behavioral objectives to provide the mechanism to improve the value of the educational experience of the student
- Perform other duties as assigned by proper authority

- Supervisory responsibilities may include the supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
