JOB TITLE: General Secretary, Special Education

Primary Purpose:
Assist the Special Education department by performing secretarial duties such as typing, responding to telephone calls and maintaining files
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient computer and word processing skills
- File Maintenance and record keeping
- Attentive to details – able to prepare correspondence and reports
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual
Experience:
- Prior secretarial experience preferably in a public education environment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Type correspondence such as letters, memos, reports, forms, etc. for Special Programs department
- Answer routine telephone inquiries regarding special programs and procedures.
- Maintain general files, budget for grant programs(s) and Federal documentation
- Work collaboratively between parents, schools, and transportation
- PEIMS student coding
- Process payroll, work orders and purchase requsitions
- Maintain and order supplies/materials for the special programs department
- Assist with process of student identification for Migrant and/or Homeless
- Assist with community outreach services
- Provide phone support to Special Programs department
- Experience with Data Base software such as; Skyward, Mizuni, Eduphoria and Lawson
- Perform other duties as assigned

interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of
