JOB TITLE:  Migrant Recruiter/NGS Specialist 

DUTY DAYS:  220 

PAY GRADE:  C04

Primary Purpose: 

 

Identify and recruit migrant students to the district; act as a liaison between the school and the migrant community; provide registration and withdrawal service to migrant students; maintain files, records, and federal and state-mandated reports related to migrant students

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver’s license

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

  • Bilingual – effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents of migrant students, teachers, and counselors
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Identify and collaborate with social services at Local State and Federal level
  • Ability to work with diverse community populations
  • Ability to travel throughout the district and state
  • Proficient using Technology
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to Multitask
  • Worked in an environment which provides support and services to others  

  

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Actively identify and recruit eligible migrant children residing in the school district, including activities such as surveying the area, periodic survey of students, and establishing communications networks
  2. Make home visits to migrant families to communicate available school services and programs and area social services and resources
  3. Interview families to determine eligibility for migrant services
  4. Out of School Services, direct services, community outreach
  5. Monitoring of Student Services, direct development and collaboration
  6. Assist with parent meetings, staff development and collabration
  7. Assist with student services 
  8. Enroll and withdraw migrant students from the National Migrant Database
  9. Compile pertinent data to prepare required federal, state, and local reports
  10. Attend Region 4 meetings, State conference / National conference
  11. Prepare reports for local, state and federal audits
  12. Other duties as assigned
