Primary Purpose: 

 

Provide the Intake evaluation staff with reception, interpreting/translating and clerical support

 

Qualifications: 

      Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Pass the PISD Bilingual Exam

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate ability to read and write Spanish
  • Possess the ability to work with children of all ages
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use computer and software to develop spread sheets data bases, and word processing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Meet and greet parents as they arrive at the Intake Center
  2. Answer phones and provide front desk coverage at the Intake Center
  3. Assist with the preparation and administration of evaluation instruments in Spanish
  4. Assist limited English-speaking parents by providing interpreting/translation services during the intake and evaluation process
  5. Enter parent and student information into the student IEP software program
  6. Maintain records, files and other relevant documents for student in referral and evaluation process
  7. Assist evaluation staff in scheduling and rescheduling screeners and evaluations
  8. Perform other duties as assigned

      While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk,

      sit, talk, and hear; the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms,

      stoop, and kneel; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move materials and objects

      and have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional

      control under stress

 

      Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

      Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling; pushing and pulling; possible;

      biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; exposure to students

      who may display violent behavior; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of

      computer and sitting; general office environment is quiet to loud depending on

      the activity; the employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff, and

      students; the employee must meet multiple demands from several people and

      be able to work effectively under pressure
