Primary Purpose:
Provide the Intake evaluation staff with reception, interpreting/translating and clerical support
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Pass the PISD Bilingual Exam
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrate ability to read and write Spanish
- Possess the ability to work with children of all ages
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use computer and software to develop spread sheets data bases, and word processing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Meet and greet parents as they arrive at the Intake Center
- Answer phones and provide front desk coverage at the Intake Center
- Assist with the preparation and administration of evaluation instruments in Spanish
- Assist limited English-speaking parents by providing interpreting/translation services during the intake and evaluation process
- Enter parent and student information into the student IEP software program
- Maintain records, files and other relevant documents for student in referral and evaluation process
- Assist evaluation staff in scheduling and rescheduling screeners and evaluations
- Perform other duties as assigned

sit, talk, and hear; the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms,
stoop, and kneel; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move materials and objects
and have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional
control under stress
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling; pushing and pulling; possible;
biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; exposure to students
who may display violent behavior; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of
computer and sitting; general office environment is quiet to loud depending on
the activity; the employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff, and
students; the employee must meet multiple demands from several people and
be able to work effectively under pressure
