Primary Purpose: 

 

      The BCaBA works under the supervision and direction of the Supports for Student

      with Autism (SSA) Grant LBA (Licensed Behavior Analyst) to support students

      with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the educational setting; the BCaBA will

      collaborate with teachers, LBA, grant team coaches and administrators to

      develop and support individual behavioral and educational plans, collect and

      report data, and provide individualized parent training for students served in the

      MITEY grant classroom

 

Qualifications: 

      Education/Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) as a Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

      Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Desire to be involved in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of professionals with the drive to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ability to multitask
  • Conduct preference assessments and functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans under the supervision of BCBA or LBA
  • Knowledge of the IEP process, including evaluations, multidisciplinary approaches, goal setting, and implementation (preferred)
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction (preferred)
  • General knowledge of Universal Design for Learning principles and differentiated instruction (preferred)
  • Experience in the development of parent training plans (preferred)
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration and facilitation skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Review and interpret data on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to the grant team
  2. Conduct preference assessments and functional behavior assessments and create behavior support tools
  3. Work directly with students using behavior support tools and model strategies for teachers and para-educators
  4. Work directly with students using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) and model strategies for teachers and para-educators
  5. Participate in routinely scheduled multi-disciplinary meetings
  6. Develop, coordinate and provide individual and group parent training(s) in collaboration with grant team
  7. Collect and submit required data as scheduled
  8. Engages students in work that develops thinking skills
  9. Maintains and improves professional competence by participating in district staff development
  10. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
  11. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members
  12. Attends and participates in department meetings and committees
  13. Assists students with personal care needs
  14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  15. Must be able to complete CPI certification training and when needed provide course approved restraints and personal safety techniques

          Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain

          emotional control under stress

 

      Physical Demands: 

 

           Frequent standing; stooping; bending; kneeling; pushing and pulling;

           possible heavy lifting of students. Biological exposure to bacteria and

           communicable diseases; exposure to students who may display aggressive     

           behavior
