Primary Purpose:

 

Provide for the safety of all students, faculty and staff and the security of all District and campus property and equipment. To enforce all applicable federal, state and local laws including the Texas Education Code.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Texas Peace Officer License
  • Must be in good standing with TCOLE
  • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • General knowledge of law enforcement procedures, criminal investigation and Texas laws
  • Ability to operate emergency equipment, weapons, alarm systems and vehicles.
  • Ability to maintain crowd control
  • Ability to work rapidly and accurately with names, codes and symbols.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and concise written reports
  • Ability to maintain security and confidential materials
  • Ability to judge when to act independently and when to refer situations to supervisors.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees, students, parents, public and other police agencies
  • Ability to recognize and report hazards and to apply safe work methods.

Experience:

  • Law Enforcement experience preferred
  • Driving history must reflect maturity and responsibility

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provide for the safety of all students, faculty, staff and community
  2. Provide for the security of all District and campus property and equipment
  3. Enforce federal, state and local laws
  4. Prevent crime
  5. Patrol assigned areas watching for hazardous situations and suspicious circumstances
  6. Notify appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention such as fire department, EMS, or other police agencies
  7. Respond and investigate any calls concerning criminal activities
  8. Prepare and submit offense and incident reports in a timely manner, ensuring thoroughness of information contained in the reports
  9. Inspect and secure doors, windows, lights, and gates when buildings are vacant
  10. Ensure sound security measures for the transfer of funds
  11. Patrol and control traffic and parking on school campuses to ensure all traffic and parking laws are adhered to according to applicable law
  12. Investigate all incident and offense reports and follow-up investigations when required
  13. Provide police services at school or school district sponsored activities
  14. Enforce statutory law enforcement functions as deemed necessary by the Pasadena ISD Administration and the Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees
  15. Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

Must be physically fit. Requires sitting, walking, standing, sprinting/running, hand/grip strength, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, shooting and driving. Weight must be proportional to height. Must be able to perform all police related functions and duties/assignments as specified by the Chief of Police.

 

Environment:

 

Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Work is performed under stressful conditions. Must be able to perform under emergency conditions. Risk of being exposed to infection (germs, bacteria, viruses). Risk of getting bitten by animals and/or insects. Risk of being involved in physical violence.
