Primary Purpose:
To create a flexible education program and plan instruction to enable students to benefit from educational experiences; to promote a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. To help students develop appropriate social skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree
- Must meet TEA certification and/or endorsement requirements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and TEA policies
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret instructional materials
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program, ability to plan and implement lessons based on objectives, needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication
- Organizational skills to manage classroom behavior, routines, and procedures
Experience:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan, monitor, deliver, evaluate, and report Title I identified student progress and assessment
- Regularly monitor reports for Title I identified students
- Teach students to develop and read student's computerized reports
- Train teachers in area of modifications in multisensory and interdisciplinary units
- Help teachers develop authentic assessment processes and effective teaching practices
- Provide demonstration teaching
- Serve as a peer coach
- Provide regular meetings for the parents of participating children
- Provide opportunities for parental involvement
